Day 2: Munich to Bad Tolz 76kmsMy day started with a trip to the bike mechanic. It seems that most have Sundays AND Mondays off and so I was very fortunate that Florian was working today, squeezed in my bike repair and was skilled. My bike must have taken a big hit on the flight, but all running well now.I therefore had a much later start than I would prefer at 11.30am.The route out of Munich was all on bike lanes. Lots of traffic lights but in a car free space, then I dropped down onto a bike path that pretty much followed the milky green glacial Isar river most of the day. Shortly after a friendly guy cycles next to me on his road bike and up for a chat. He also does charity fundraisers for world cycle relief and the next 3-4kms whizzed by till he turned off. I crossed many bridges including one very high one that had me (and almost everyone else) pushing my bike up most of the steep ramp.So many people out on bikes enjoying their summer holidays and many bike touring too. I passed groups of Nordic walkers keeping their fitness over summer. I rode through many undulating tracks through forests today. Eventually I came across rolling hills with farms dotted and in the distance the mountains are now visible. Hard to believe I will cross those eventually. At the top of one long climb I could see a little boy with a stall set up outside his home. He had an esky with apple juice for 50c! So I enjoyed a glass of apple juice outside a house with window boxes of flowers and gazing at the Alps and then a downhill to top it off! Bad (meaning Spa) Tolz is a picturesque village with a pristine steep cobbled main street and lined with pretty houses and shops with decorative painting 🥰. I cycled to the top of the hill to see them all and then back down again and to the supermarket before riding the last 8kms to the campground. The cycle campers are packed in tonight in a little meadow.Made my ravioli for dinner, found out I had bought the wrong gas bottle type this morning but another cyclist loaned me his nozzle. Will have to keep an eye out for a shop when I get to a big town.Chatted with a couple who had holidayed in Aus and they saw my flag and called out to meI'm laying in my tent feeling accomplished, im.so.comfrtable here in Germany, it's familiar and have had a brilliant day 😊.
