Day 16 Lake Bled to Lake Bohinj return and Lake Bled to Mojstrana 🇸🇮 40kms 🚴♀️
The weather was perfect today with blue skies and warm weather for our two part adventure.
I had researched prior and the hostel confirmed that cycling all the way to lake Bohinj is not recommended so we caught the train with many other cyclists to a nearby town Bohinjska Bistrica and had the most scenic wonderful dedicated cycle path ride to the lake. Many people out cycling the route today. Lake Bohinj is the lesser known lake to Lake Bled and we preferred it. Crystal clear water, mountains all around, water craft on the lake. We had a picnic and lazed by the lake before riding back through the valley to the 3hrly train.
Once back at Bled we started part 2 of our day, cycling to Mojstrana. A popular cycle too through little villages with soaring mountains beside and we ended up following the Radovna river. We picknicked and put our feet in the river and it was icy cold!
We entered the Triglavski National park for a beautiful ride through the forest between the mountains. The killer 18% climb to finish seemed full on until we enjoyed an even longer 18% descent with cyclists trying to come up the other side.
We are settled in our campsite at the base of the mountains and walked to town to get some groceries. We made a chicken and lentil casserole for dinner 😊
We will head off on a huge 2 day hike tomorrow to climb Slovenia’s highest mountain.
Brilliant day!
